Our Mission

"To prevent alcohol, tobacco and other drug use through social changes and health promotion, in order to enhance the quality of life of the people."

Healthy Lanka Alliance for Development works towards this mission through community mobilization, effective training, public policy and advocacy, media literacy, and political awareness. The aim of programmes would be creation of a society where alcohol and drug use does not prevent the wellbeing of the people and fulfillment of the human potential.

Objectives

To enable social development rooted in justice and equity through civil society participation and social mobilization.

To protect and promote a culture and society which functions well without the use of intoxicants.

To create an environment where civil society organizations are involved in health promotional activities.

To develop and advocate an understanding on alcohol and drug related problems based on public health perspectives.

To empower women to speak up for their rights and take a stand against substance use and GBV.

To facilitate healthy physical and mental development of children through awareness and advocacy.

To promote social and economic justice and eliminate oppressive social conditions.

To prepare community leaders and field staff for professional social change practices.

To develop theoretical and practical models that effectively deal with social problems.

To provide technical assistance to organizations and projects to enhance their expertise.

Organization Structure

Healthy Lanka is a specialized agency that uses scientific and evidence-based knowledge and information on reducing alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs, to promote a healthy and rights-fulfilled environment within the community.

Management Panel

Governed by a panel comprising the General Secretary, Programme Director, Programme Manager, and the Administration and Finance Manager. Supported by Programme Monitoring officers, Media officers, and Documentation specialists based in Colombo.

Field Operations are overseen by Field Programme Coordinators stationed in each district, responsible for implementing community-level activities and supporting established Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to ensure program continuity.
